Through a statement in X UNRWA has assured that its members continue their work “in the midst of the terrible humanitarian crisis”. ” Gaza is the most dangerous place in the world for humanitarian workers,” he said.
UN Secretary General António Guterres lamented the demise of UNRWA workers, who have “suffered intolerably”, and honored their efforts in a statement in which he recalled that humanitarian aid “critical” in the region has declined by about two thirds since Israel began its offensive operations in Rafah.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), some 270 humanitarian workers have been killed in Gaza between 7 October and 29 May.
Other humanitarian organizations, such as Human Rights Watch (HRW), have been denouncing attacks by the Israeli armed forces against their members for months, among which are instances in which they had communicated their coordinates so that they could guarantee their protection.
It is worth recalling the incident in which several workers of the World Central Kitchen were attacked by Israeli fire, losing 7 comrades in the process.
