The Pentagon confirmed the death of a U.S. soldier listed missing after attack on a U.S. air base in Jordan.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Central Command (Centcom) confirmed that U.S. forces began striking military targets in Iran for the 11th consecutive night.

The strikes, which began at 7 p.m., were “designed to continue degrading Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz,” the Centcom posted on X.

U.S. President Donald Trump said earlier in the day that Washington has no interest in holding talks with Iran unless Tehran is prepared to engage in what he called “meaningful” negotiations.

The U.S. military will strike Pickaxe Mountain in central Iran “pretty soon,” he said, referring to a fortified underground facility that Tehran declared to the International Atomic Energy Agency in 2020 as the future site of an advanced centrifuge assembly plant.

On Tuesday, The Pentagon confirmed the death of a U.S. soldier listed missing after Iran’s Friday attack on a U.S. air base in Jordan, raising the number of U.S. troops killed in the strike to three.

The soldier was identified as 28-year-old Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad of Ozone Park, New York, and is believed to have been killed in Friday’s action, the U.S. Defense Department stated.

The Pentagon had earlier said the strike also claimed two other U.S. service members. Separately, another U.S. soldier was killed Sunday in northern Iraq during “a controlled detonation” of a downed Iranian one-way attack drone, the Centcom said.

According to the Pentagon, the number of U.S. military casualties from Iranian attacks has risen to nearly 100 over the last two weeks.
