President Putin has warned Western countries against authorizing Ukraine to use long-range missiles.
On Wednesday, Russia conducted the first test of its national public alert system by activating sirens, loudspeakers, and broadcasting messages on radio and television in response to a potential Western authorization for Ukraine to use long-range missiles against targets on Russian territory.

“The large-scale test of the public alert systems at the regional and municipal levels was carried out across all of Russia’s federal entities. Sirens and loudspeakers were activated, and messages were broadcast on radio and television channels,” stated the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Through the MChS Rossii mobile app, Russian authorities issued the alert with the message, “Attention everyone! We are conducting a test of the public alert system.”
“This set of actions allows us to effectively check the functionality of the alert systems and assess the readiness of authorized personnel responsible for activating public warning systems,” they added.
The Emergency Situations Ministry released a video showing an office at the moment the test was ordered, followed by footage from various Russian cities where sirens and voice alerts were heard.
Ukraine has repeatedly asked its Western allies for permission to use Western-made long-range missiles against targets on Russian territory, a request that has yet to receive a positive response.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned Western countries against authorizing Kyiv to use such weapons. He also approved a new military doctrine that allows for nuclear responses to conventional attacks on Russian and Belarusian territories.
