Chanting “A femicide every 35 hours” and “Stop killing us,” the demonstrators denounced the murders of young women Morena Verri, Brenda Loreley Del Castillo, 20, and Lara Morena Gutiérrez, 15, demanding that the facts be clarified and justice be served.

On this matter, the activist group Ni Una Menos declared: “State antifeminism and austerity are lethal (…) this triple femicide of young girls occurs in a context where economic violence fuels the growth of drug networks and destroys grassroots community organization.”

According to local media, the killing is connected to a revenge attack carried out by a drug gang led by a Peruvian national.

Meanwhile, Brenda and Morena’s grandfather criticized the actions of the Argentine government. “Justice was very slow. How could they start tracing the phones only yesterday? Why didn’t they do it earlier?”

He also pointed out that Security Minister Patricia Bullrich neither intervened nor spoke out about the case. “We feel unprotected. The minister of the nation only intervenes when a street is blocked. Drug trafficking is a federal crime,” he said.

In Argentina, from January 1 to August 31, 2025, there were 164 crimes related to gender-based violence, according to a new report by the “Adriana Marisel Zambrano” Observatory on Femicides in Argentina.

Despite President Javier Milei’s government’s denialist stance regarding gender-based violence, between January 1 and March 31, 2025, 77 femicides were recorded in Argentina.
