Under a simple majority system, the party that won 8 of the 15 parliamentary seats would determine the next prime minister. The winning party secured 9 parliamentary seats.
The result is based on the count from 12 of the country’s 15 constituencies. The trend is irreversible, although data collection is ongoing.
As the new prime minister prepares to take office, national attention will focus on his proposed policy initiatives and potential strategies to address the island’s economic and social challenges.
Meanwhile, more than 100,000 citizens of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines were called to the polls to elect a new government.
