It deems the United States an unreliable partner, which does not necessarily serve North Korea’s interests.

On Wednesday, North Korea stated that it does not consider it necessary to engage in talks with the United States, following FBI accusations linking North Koreans to the recent cyberattack against the Binance cryptocurrency platform.

The statement was made by Kim Yo-jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, who described Washington as an unreliable partner and maintained that the accusations are part of a hostile policy toward Pyongyang.

While acknowledging that dialogue could be a way to preserve peace, Kim indicated that negotiations with the United States do not necessarily serve North Korea’s national interests.

The North Korean position reduces expectations of a possible meeting between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un, which had been anticipated amid the upcoming international meetings in Asia.

Meanwhile, North Korea further escalated regional tensions by launching several missiles from the Sondok area into the Sea of Japan, known in both Koreas as the East Sea.

Binance, for its part, published a report explaining that the cyberattack began with fake job offers targeting company employees, using social engineering techniques and artificial intelligence.

According to the company, the attackers gained access to internal systems after convincing an engineer to download a malicious file during a supposed job selection process.

The attack allowed for unauthorized transfers of various cryptocurrencies, with an estimated impact of US$6.34 billion, a figure that U.S. authorities have linked to actors associated with North Korea.

Binance stated that it has recovered or blocked a significant portion of the compromised funds, announced a comprehensive review of its security systems, and indicated new investments in AI-based detection tools.
