Leaders review joint projects in development, education and science; Lula invites Sheinbaum to visit Brazil between June and July.


Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum held a phone conversation Monday with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to review ongoing bilateral cooperation and discuss joint economic initiatives between the two countries.

Lula said he reiterated his invitation for the Mexican president to visit Brazil and proposed organizing a business event aimed at bringing together private sector representatives from both countries.

“I reiterated my invitation to President Sheinbaum to visit Brazil and suggested organizing a business event that brings together the private sectors of both countries to explore new business opportunities,” the Brazilian president wrote on his X account.

According to Lula, the conversation also addressed efforts to strengthen economic ties and deepen the bilateral partnership, “especially in the energy sector.”

Sheinbaum accepted the invitation and is expected to travel to Brazil between June and July this year.

The two leaders last met in June during the Group of Seven (G7) Leaders’ Summit held in Canada, where they discussed strengthening trade relations between Mexico and Brazil.

In August of last year, Sheinbaum received Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin in Mexico for a two-day working visit. During the meeting, both sides agreed to expand cooperation in scientific, economic and environmental development.
