The President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez, stated this Friday that Venezuela is going through complex, but also constructive and reconciliatory times, and in that sense, he called for defending the joy, peace, and sovereignty of the Republic from the trenches of daily work.
During the opening of the First National Meeting of the Secretariat of Parliamentary Affairs of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), held at the Teresa Carreño Theater in Caracas, Rodríguez affirmed that the country is at peace, despite external threats and attempts at polarization.

He emphasized that stability is an achievement of the people and that institutions have the duty to defend it. This is a more difficult task than destruction and death, but it is essential. Venezuela must exist and will exist forever, expressed Rodríguez, who proposed the creation of new laws to safeguard peace and life, as part of the legislative agenda that should accompany the people in this stage of reconstruction and national reconciliation.
He emphasized that PSUV members must be the companions of the Venezuelan people and defined the primary function of a deputy as listening to the people’s cries for help in addressing their needs. He also called for them not to remain in the offices that house the legislative bodies but to go out into the streets, to meet with the people, as Commander Hugo Chávez and President Nicolás Maduro taught.
He highlighted the political potential that stems from uniting the PSUV’s legislative force at its three levels (national, state, and municipal) and the importance of maintaining communication channels with the grassroots and ensuring that the legislative function has a distinctly popular character.

The revolutionary role of a deputy implies being in the streets, in the neighborhoods, going door to door, in contact with the people. Less time on the stage, more community engagement, more hugs, more words, more helping hands, and above all, more listening, he stressed.
Previously, the PSUV’s Vice President of Organization, Pedro Infante, recalled that the creation of these secretariats was a task assigned by President Nicolás Maduro, currently held hostage by the U.S. following the U.S. aggression of January 3.

Legislators from all parties of the Patriotic Pole are participating in the meeting. The party has more than 5,700 members across the three territorial levels, an “extraordinary force,” as Pedro Infante described it. Photo: Social Media.
Infante stated that “this organization will represent a great power to continue doing political and social work, to build peace, defend sovereignty, continue fighting for the rescue of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, and advance in building prosperity for our people.”
He added that legislators from all parties of the Patriotic Pole are participating in the meeting. He specified that they have more than 5,700 legislators across the three territorial levels. “It is the most qualified and most recognized vanguard by the grassroots. It is an extraordinary force,” said Infante, who valued that this collaboration will help boost the organizational work of the communes.
