Jorge Rodríguez: Venezuela Doesn’t Want War, It Wants the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace

“Here (in Venezuela) we love peace, and may peace be with us all forever,” emphasized the president of the Venezuelan National Assembly.

Rodríguez clarified that the US threats come with the supposed justification that they will only affect Chavistas, but “in reality, we have all been victims of the sanctions.” Photo: teleSUR.

The secretary of the National Council for Sovereignty and Peace, Jorge Rodríguez, in the context of the installation of the National Council for Sovereignty and Peace, La Guaira Chapter, affirmed that Venezuelans, in the face of imperial threats from the United States, want their independence and sovereignty to be protected and preserved.

Padrino López: “We have demonstrated capacity, cohesion, and firmness in the face of external threats.”

“Venezuela has always been a territory of peace; this is the time to protect and defend our homeland. We have the right to say that we don’t want war, that we want the Caribbean to remain a territory of peace, that we want our independence and sovereignty, and the peace of the Republic, to be protected and preserved,” he said.

On the other hand, the president of the Venezuelan National Assembly also emphasized that “never before in our history…have we received such violent action, so full of lies, fallacies, fabrications, and slander that do nothing but attack and assault the very being of Venezuelan women and men.”

Along those lines, he clarified that the US threats are accompanied by the supposed pretext that they will only affect Chavistas, but “in reality, we have all been victims of the sanctions and blockades against our economy, against our functioning.”

He also highlighted the attempt to perpetrate violent actions that, he noted, also affect everyone, and that in the face of this, all Venezuelans must come together, regardless of religious or political divisions, but rather by “the unity of being Venezuelan,” so that the children and grandchildren of the future are born “in a prosperous and peaceful country.”

“Never has an armed contingent left this land to affect any other land. The only time an army left here was to liberate South America from the Spanish yoke,” he recalled, adding

In that sense, he emphasized that this is a time for unity, also underscoring the willingness of the residents of La Guaira from various social sectors to form the Council in that territory.

“Let us seek actions that unite us, not actions that separate us… that allow us to communicate with the world and tell it an incontrovertible truth, a truth as great as this homeland that we all share,” he added.

Finally, he reaffirmed that “here (in Venezuela) we love peace, and may peace be with us all forever.”
