Israeli forces raided several areas of the West Bank on Wednesday, imposing curfews, surrounding communities and demolishing at least one Palestinian home as Israel marked the third anniversary of the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack.

The Israeli army said soldiers and Border Police had carried out several operations in recent hours to detain and question “dozens” of people wanted over alleged involvement in terrorist activities and incitement, particularly expressions of support for the Oct. 7 attack.

The raids came as Israel commemorated the Hamas assault, which killed 1,200 people and left 251 hostages, according to the information provided in the press releases. All crossings between Israel and the Gaza Strip and West Bank remained closed on Wednesday for the commemorations.

In Nablus, in the northern West Bank, Israeli troops entered before dawn from several directions using military vehicles and an excavator and imposed a curfew, according to local sources cited by the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.

Soldiers searched homes in several neighborhoods and caused damage, Wafa reported. They also detained local journalist Umair Istaitiya and eight other people and demolished monuments commemorating Palestinian “martyrs.”

Israeli forces also conducted a broad raid campaign in several communities northwest of Jerusalem, according to the Jerusalem Governorate, which is affiliated with the Palestinian Authority.

In Bidu, soldiers evacuated a neighborhood and demolished the home of Palestinian prisoner Qadri Samara, who is accused of carrying out a shooting attack on Sept. 20 near the Israeli settlement of Neve Tzuf.

In Beit Duqu, troops searched homes, carried out detentions and questioned people on the spot before surrounding the village and preventing residents from leaving for work.

Detentions and interrogations were also reported in Beit Anan, Al Qubeiba and Beit Surik. In Qatana, soldiers deployed across several neighborhoods and closed the entrances, preventing people from entering or leaving the town.
