Iranian Election Enters Vote Counting Stage after Completion of Second Round

The voting period has been extended until 00.00 (local time) and results are expected to be ready by Saturday morning (local time).
On Friday, in Iran, the polling stations closed, thus beginning the counting of votes, all this in the framework of the second round of elections in the Persian country.

The two main contenders in this vote count are Masud Pezeshkian and Said Jalili. Iranian election council spokesman Mohsen Eslami has confirmed that the voting period has been extended until 00.00 (local time) and results are expected to be ready by Saturday morning (local time).
More than 61 million Iranian citizens, exercised their right to vote in this second round of elections, 58,000 voting centers were opened throughout Iran and 344 voting centers in various parts of the world, as embassies and representations of the Islamic Republic of Iran in other countries.
According to preliminary data, in the first round the participation rate was 40 percent, in which Pezeshkian received 10,415,991 votes and Jalili nine,473,298.
Early presidential elections were called after President Ebrahim Raeisi was martyred along with seven others on 19 May, when the helicopter carrying them crashed in north-western Iran.
