Iran announced on Monday that it is exchanging messages with the United States through intermediaries but stressed that there are no plans to resume nuclear negotiations with Washington, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei said at a press conference.

Baghaei explained that the “necessary conditions” for restarting nuclear talks with THE Trump administration are not currently in place. Negotiations have remained suspended since the 12-day war in June between prompted by Israel, during which the United States bombed three Iranian nuclear facilities.

Tehran has accused the United States of setting “unacceptable and impossible conditions,” including demands to halt uranium enrichment and limit its missile range, according to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who spoke on Saturday.

“We will never negotiate over our missile program — no rational country would agree to disarm,” Araghchi declared.

Baghaei also confirmed that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is currently carrying out inspections at the Bushehr nuclear power plant and the Tehran Research Reactor, describing the visits as “normal and necessary.”

However, the sites bombed by the U.S. and Israel, which reportedly contain 440 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60%, are not being inspected by the IAEA, he noted.
