Venezuela’s Minister of the Interior, Justice, and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, confirmed this Wednesday during his program “Con el Mazo Dando” that at least 100 people, mostly young, died during the US military aggression against Venezuela, which culminated in the kidnapping of the constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro. “Venezuela will not surrender because it is a nation with history and a legacy,” he stated.

Cabello reiterated the unanimous support of the Venezuelan state for Delcy Rodríguez, appointed acting president, following Maduro’s capture. “We are fully supporting Delcy Rodríguez, the acting president, in the face of the kidnapping of our president, Nicolás Maduro,” he said, noting that both Maduro and the First Lady, Cilia Flores, were wounded during the operation. “The battle we are waging right now is to get Cilia and Nicolás back,” he emphasized.
In his address, the minister condemned the US operation as a violation of international law and labeled Maduro a “prisoner of war.”
“The whole world now knows that Nicolás Maduro is a prisoner of war and the United States violated all the norms of international coexistence,” he said.
He added that he possesses audiovisual evidence demonstrating that the aggression was not limited to military targets, but directly impacted the civilian population.
Cabello paid tribute to the fallen, including Venezuelans and Cubans, and emphasized that “the people are in the streets supporting Nicolás Maduro, Cilia Flores, and the Constitution,” while noting that “there has not been a single demonstration in favor of barbarism.”
The minister rejected the international resolutions condemning Maduro and refuted the accusations of “narco-terrorism” and “lack of democracy.”
In that regard, he recalled that the US justice system has recognized that the alleged “Cartel of the Suns” does not exist. He also asserted that the true purpose of the intervention is to seize Venezuela’s natural resources, especially oil. “The problem isn’t democracy; the problem is the nation’s resources,” he declared.
Cabello called for a review of history: “Every president who has protected natural resources has suffered a coup d’état.” He reaffirmed that the Constitution is being fully upheld in Venezuela and that all institutions support the acting president.
Finally, he expressed his gratitude for the messages of solidarity sent by nations around the world in response to the military aggression and the president’s kidnapping. “The only guarantee of peace in Venezuela is the Bolivarian Revolution,” he concluded, and warned: “What they (the U.S.) are doing to Venezuela today, they could do to anyone, and no one would be able to respond.”
