ALBA-TCP recognizes Saint Lucia as a country committed to peace, regional stability, and the unity of its peoples. In a statement issued by the platform, it was highlighted that under Pierre’s leadership, Saint Lucia played a leading role within the Alliance, raising the voice of the Caribbean and strengthening Latin American and Caribbean unity.

The Bolivarian Alliance reaffirmed its commitment to continue working alongside the Government of Saint Lucia on all shared plans and projects, and to continue consolidating “a strong Caribbean and a united, dignified, sovereign, and peaceful region.”

Pierre was the candidate for the Castries East constituency, a Labour Party stronghold, where more than 179,000 citizens were eligible to vote. The opposition candidate was the United Workers Party, led by former Prime Minister Allen Chastanet, whose administration increased the national debt and prioritized the private sector.

The early elections were intended to legitimize Prime Minister Pierre’s administration, whose social welfare and economic stabilization policies contrasted sharply with the opposition’s approach. The Caribbean nation of Saint Lucia held early general elections on Monday, December 1, to elect 17 members of its House of Assembly.

Prime Minister Philip Pierre called elections ahead of the 2026 deadline, seeking a new term bolstered by a strong economy, the establishment of a minimum wage, and a reduction in unemployment, which reached its lowest rate in history.

He achieved a resounding victory in the snap elections, democratically securing his new mandate through the people’s choice, winning in 14 of the 17 districts of the Caribbean island.

This result symbolizes strong popular support for Pierre’s administration, reaffirming the political project of social justice and strengthening the SLP’s position against the opposition, whose platform prioritized the private sector.

Furthermore, ALBA-TCP’s congratulations to Saint Lucia and its re-elected Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre reinforce the policy of regional integration and unity of the Global South, highlighting the Caribbean’s commitment to social justice and sovereignty.

The Labour Party’s victory is seen as a ratification of the progressive project in the region, essential for stability and the strengthening of the Caribbean voice in the face of common challenges.
