Eight more people—including a child—have died in the Gaza Strip due to starvation and severe malnutrition in the last 24 hours, as the humanitarian crisis worsens under Israel’s ongoing genocide, medical sources report.

Hospital data reveals that the death toll from hunger-related causes across Gaza has surged to 289, with children accounting for 115 of these deaths. This stark increase highlights the deepening food emergency gripping the population since October 2023, when Israel intensified its blockade and military operations.
The situation deteriorated sharply after March 2025, when the Zionist regime closed all border crossings, cutting off most humanitarian aid, including vital food and medical supplies. Aid organizations have since faced immense challenges in reaching those in need, while residents endure escalating desperation and severe shortages of basic essentials.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) reported a doubling of child malnutrition rates between March and June amid these blockades. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) has condemned the humanitarian conditions as dire, emphasizing that the intentional obstruction and delays in aid delivery have directly caused civilian deaths.
WHO statistics indicate that almost 20% of children under five in Gaza City suffer from malnutrition, exposing them to life-threatening risks if there’s not immediate intervention.
