4.0 Quake Reported in La Guaira; Authorities Continue Monitoring

The Venezuelan Foundation of Seismic Investigations (Funvisis) reported a 4.0-magnitude quake in La Guaira at 3:07 a.m. local time. Acting President Delcy Rodriguez noted in a 3:43 a.m. post on her telegram channel that the due monitoring process is ongoing.
This event occurred nearly two months after the June 24 double earthquakes, which severely damaged Venezuelan infrastructure and claimed at least 6,438 lives, according to the latest available figures.

Currently, urban sanitation and public works crews are making progress in clearing and removing collapsed material. To date, 528,222.30 tons of debris have been removed in the affected localities, a volume representing 25.15% of the total projected in the overall cleaning plan.
The president of the General Staff for the Creation of Transitional Camps and Housing, Jorge Rodríguez, confirmed this Monday in the weekly information report on the follow-up to care, rescue and reconstruction efforts that a cumulative total of 6,462 people have been rescued alive.
