The conversation will be direct ‘as it should be in order to move toward a genuine understanding,’ she said.
On Thursday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that there will be no international mediators involved in the June 2 talks between Russia and Ukraine scheduled to take place in Istanbul.

Only the two parties directly involved will participate in the meeting in the Turkish city, where they will discuss a cease-fire proposal prepared by the Russian delegation.
“There will be no third-party participation. Neither Türkiye nor any other country will act as a mediator. The conversation will be direct between Russian and Ukrainian representatives, as it should be in order to move toward a genuine understanding,” she said.
The Russian delegation will present a cease-fire memorandum that will include additional proposals aimed at facilitating an immediate suspension of hostilities. Although no details were provided about the contents of the document, Zakharova described the proposal as “detailed and realistic.”
Diplomatic sources in Moscow mentioned that the memorandum may include provisions for temporary demilitarized zones, humanitarian evacuation corridors, and a roadmap for future political discussions.
Zakharova explicitly dissociated the meeting between the two warring parties from the simultaneous presence in Istanbul of senior U.S., British, German and French officials on the same date.
“We took note of that scheduling coincidence, but our talks with Ukraine are unrelated to any Western delegation present in the city,” she emphasized.
