Western Media Spreads Lots of Misinformation About Venezuela’s Situation: International Observer

David McDonald Denny, from Barbados, is the General Secretary for the Caribbean Movement for Peace and Integration and was invited by the Venezuelan government to be one of the international observer during the Regional and Legislative Elections on Sunday, May 25th.

In a special interview with TeleSur English, David Danny, International observer ahead elections in Venezuela on May 25, highlighted the Western media harassment, fake news and manipulation of information about Venezuela.

“I must say that the Western media is spreading a lot of negative and fake news about the situation in Venezuela,” said Danny, who is part of the Caribbean Movement for Peace and Integration delegation to observe the May 25 parliamentary and local elections, day marked for being the the first time that the state of Guayana Esequiba chooses its Venezuelan rulers.
Danny also stated that the Western media attempts to cloud the democratic process in Venezuela “n terms of the conditions and in terms of the electoral process in Venezuela.” So, he advises, “to find a way to reach our people, especially in the English speaking Caribbean, so that they would better understand what is happening in Venezuela.
About the electoral process he stated that “This electoral process in Guayana Esequiba is very important for that area because it creates the conditions for the people in that area to have representation in your national assembly, one, ” and “it also creates the conditions for the people to develop the region as part of Venezuela.”
Danny also pointed out that this electoral process in the territory, also independent of exploitation by US imperialism and highlighting the support of the Caribbean Movement for Peace and Integration.
In addition, the solidarity of Venezuela with causes such as Palestine, Haiti and Burkina Faso is emphasized, highlighting Venezuela’s role in helping Haiti after the earthquake, as well as Cuba’s continued solidarity with Haiti in medicine and academic scholarships.
Regarding his role as international observer, Danny said he had the opportunity of participate in rallies and talk to Venezuelan people on the streets. “And tomorrow, election day, we’ll get the opportunity where we’ll be able to visit a number of the polling stations. And I will speak with several of the political parties there at the polling stations.”
Caribbean Movement for Peace and Integration’s observer also showed their support Venezuela’s position of holding elections in Esekiba Guyana as part of an integration process and to promote the independence of its inhabitants, and opposes the presence of ExxonMobil, backed by US imperialism, in the Guyana mining, arguing that there should be more dialogue between Venezuela and Guyana rather than imposition of US. . and military threats to Venezuela.
