‘Together we are building history from Guayana Esequiba,’ said Admiral Villamizar at the close of his campaign.

Neil Villamizar, the candidate for governor of the state of Guayana Esequiba backed by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), led a festive and massive campaign closing event on Thursday.

The rally took place in El Dorado, where Indigenous communities and residents from Tumeremo, El Dorado, Las Claritas, and Kilometro 88 gathered. Also present were farmers, miners, ranchers, merchants, entrepreneurs, women and young people who support the Great Patriotic Pole’s victory in the upcoming regional and parliamentary elections on May 25.

Visibly moved, Villamizar highlighted the human quality and knowledge of leaders from communities, neighborhoods, civic organizations and social movements who are working together to build a prosperous Guayana Esequiba.

“Today, from the very heart of this territory, we reaffirm that the development of our region will happen hand in hand with the people. There are no empty promises here — there is collective work, commitment and a clear vision for the future,” the PSUV candidate said, emphasizing that he will implement the “Essequibo Plan of the Seven Transformations” from his administration.

Villamizar said this campaign not only marks the end of an electoral cycle but also opens the path toward a historic victory for the Venezuelan people.

The text reads, “Neil Villamizar is the candidate of the Great Simon Bolivar Patriotic Pole in the state of Guayana Esequiba. Due to the relevance and importance of our Essequibo territory, vote on May 25th for the people who work and make decisions in the country.”

“On May 25, we are not just voting for a candidate — we are voting for the sovereignty, development and dignity of Guayana Esequiba! We are going to win by a resounding majority and show the world that our people will never give up. The call is clear: Vote for the PSUV and the Great Patriotic Pole!” he said.

On Sunday, approximately 21,403 registered voters in the state of Guayana Esequiba will, for the first time, elect their governor, seven members of the Legislative Council, and eight representatives to the National Assembly. To facilitate the process, the National Electoral Council has set up 12 voting centers in the Dalla Costa and San Isidro parishes of the Sifontes municipality in Bolivar state.

Five candidates are running for the governorship of Guayana Esequiba: Adm. Neil Villamizar, representing pro-Bolivarian Revolution organizations; Julio Cesar Pineda, backed by the Ecological Movement; attorney Alexis Duarte, candidate for A New Time and Union and Change (UNICA); sociologist Hector Milano, supported by the Democratic Action party; and Armando Cumare, backed by the Arepa Movement.

The Venezuelan government officially established the state of Guayana Esequiba following a consultative referendum held Dec. 3, 2023, in which more than 10 million citizens voted in favor of defending the Essequibo region.
