On June 24, 2025, Venezuela marked the 204th anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo and Bolivarian Army Day with a powerful message from President Nicolas Maduro Moros. Speaking before a civic-military rally at the historic Carabobo Field, President Maduro framed the battle not only as a foundational moment for Venezuelan independence but as a symbol of continental unity and resistance against imperial domination, past and present.

President Maduro reminded the nation that the victory at Carabobo was more than a military triumph; it was the birth of Venezuela’s sovereignty and the foundation of the dream of “Colombia la Grande,” a united Latin America inspired by Simón Bolívar’s vision. “Carabobo paved the way for Ayacucho, for Greater Colombia, for the idea that our Americas would march forward in a single, deeply united bloc of power,” he stated.

Drawing a direct line from the battles of independence to today’s geopolitical struggles, the Venezuelan leader identified new forms of imperial aggression: criminal sanctions, economic blockades, psychological warfare, and hybrid conflicts. These, he argued, are the modern tools used to undermine Latin American sovereignty, echoing the imperialist threats faced two centuries ago.

The text reads: The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, demands an end to all imperial wars and the defense of the right to life of the peoples.

The president highlighted the role of Venezuela’s Bolivarian National Armed Forces as defenders not only of territorial integrity but of the people’s peace and revolutionary ideals. “The Bolivarian National Armed Forces are not an apparatus: they are a living conscience. Their doctrine is Bolivarian, popular, and a defender of peace. In every soldier, in every militia member, Carabobo continues to breathe,”President Maduro affirmed.

The President emphasized that the triumph at Carabobo was fundamentally an act of national unity, uniting indigenous peoples, Afro-descendants, and peasants under one flag. He recalled Bolívar’s words: “The triumph of Carabobo is the triumph of the arms of Colombia, that Great Homeland, the one that still calls us from the future with the voice of a betrayed and hopeful people.”

Reflecting on Venezuela’s journey, the president noted, “In 1810, we were merely a cry for freedom; we were not a republic, we were not a state, we had no army. And eleven years later, we defeated the most powerful empire on planet Earth.”

Calling on younger generations, President Maduro urged them to become protagonists of the “new Carabobo,” embracing community, solidarity, and the defense of sovereignty against imperialist pressures.

“Being young today must be a protagonist of the new Carabobo. It means organizing, creating community, and rejecting any kind of individualism,” he said. He described youth as “the new backbone of 21st-century independence.”

In a pointed international appeal, President Maduro condemned the aggression by the Zionist regime against Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, and Iran. He called for a summit of presidents to prevent the repetition of fascist horrors akin to those of Adolf Hitler’s era.

The text reads: The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, proposes a presidential summit to halt the advance of Nazisionism in the world.

“We demand respect for the self-determination of peoples, respect for international law, an end to imperial wars, and the defense of the right to life as the most sacred right of our peoples,” the president declared.
