Venezuela’s Great Patriotic Pole Wins 280 Mayoralties: CNE

The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) achieved a major victory in the municipal elections on Sunday, July 27, securing the country’s major mayoralties, according to the first official bulletin from the National Electoral Council (CNE).

At 11:28 p.m., CNE President Elvis Amoroso, together with the Electoral Power’s rectors, announced the results, with 82.45% of polling stations reporting. By then, 304 positions had been awarded with an irreversible trend, representing 90.74% of the total positions.

The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) reaffirmed its stronghold over the Libertador Municipality of Caracas, a position it has successfully maintained for 25 years. This municipality, home to the headquarters of the nation’s public powers and key state institutions, saw the re-election of Mayor Carmen Meléndez, further consolidating the PSUV’s leadership and commitment to the people of Caracas.

Amoroso also noted that out of 2,402 councilor positions, 2,182 were already awarded with an irreversible trend, accounting for 90.84% of the votes.

“We have written a new page in the nation’s democratic history (…) We appreciate the civic spirit of those who went to the polling stations to fulfill their constitutional rights and duties by exercising their right to vote.” he stated.
