Venezuela’s CNE Confirms Election Readiness After Successful May 25 Simulation

Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE) has declared its preparedness for the May 25 elections, following the successful completion of a nationwide electoral simulation held this Saturday. CNE Vice President Carlos Quintero emphasized that the country is ready for what he called a “grand electoral celebration.”

Nationwide Simulation Tests Voting Systems and Technical Response Times

During the drill, over 11,000 voting machine operators and support technicians evaluated the performance of polling stations and voting centers through the National Support Center. Quintero reported that 100% of voting stations were activated by 8:30 AM, marking a 15-minute improvement compared to the 2024 simulation.

The CNE also conducted critical response-time tests at its National Support Center, staffed by 350 operators. This team documented incidents and ensured rapid solutions, including replacing voting devices if needed. Quintero confirmed the results were positive, with the team fully prepared to guarantee logistical operations during the elections.

Regional Electoral Boards Complete Tallying Drill in Under 30 Minutes

A separate simulation focused on regional electoral boards—responsible for certifying election results—was completed in under 30 minutes after starting at 3:00 PM. Quintero stated this demonstrated the boards’ familiarity and competency with vote-tallying systems.

Finally, Quintero urged citizens to participate en masse in the May 25 elections, encouraging voters to approach the polls with the same enthusiasm shown during the simulation. With this successful exercise, the CNE reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and efficiency in Venezuela’s electoral process.
