Venezuela’s CNE Announces Irreversible Results for 68 Indigenous Councillors

The National Electoral Council (CNE) announced this Sunday the irreversible trend results of the elections for indigenous councilors held on August 3rd, in which 68 of a total of 69 main positions to be elected obtained an irreversible trend and were awarded by the electoral body.

The vice president of the Electoral entity, Carlos Quintero, reported the totalization of 98.55 percent of these positions with a definitive trend, from the parties and indigenous political organizations that nominated their candidates.
The Cátedra Guaicaipuro Party won most of the main seats in the council elections, with 58% of the seats (40 seats). The National Indian Council of Venezuela (Conive) followed with 22.06% (15 seats), while the Foundation Party for the Training, Integration and Dignification of the Indigenous (Fundacidi) obtained 11.76% (8 seats).
The parties Federación de Indígenas del estado Bolívar (Fieb) and Kalaiira obtained 1.47% (1 seat) and 5.88% (4 councillors) respectively. In addition, Quintero indicated that there was a participation of 92.97% of the more than 6,500 spokesmen and spokeswomen who were appointed in the previous assemblies, which attended the election this August 3.
Quintero already authorized the to the members of the municipal Electoral Boards of the 69 municipalities in the eight states where indigenous communities voted in the polling centers to proceed starting at 10:00 in the morning of this Monday, August 4th, to award and proclaim the principal and alternate positions that were favored by the voters.
The rector informed that the day was carried out with enthusiasm, civility, and complete normality, and in total compliance with the Law of Electoral Processes, the specific regulations, and the Bolivarian Constitution.
Finally, he commented that on July 27th and this August 3rd, Venezuela has given a new lesson in civility. “Venezuela advances in peace with participation, trust, and our institutions are strengthened.”
“The CNE, as guarantor of the popular will, ratifies its commitment to the Constitution, the people, and its increasingly strong and transparent electoral system,” he emphasized.
