During the demonstration, Congressman Nicolás Maduro Guerra actively participated in the mobilization and denounced the violations of international law and human rights committed by the United States government. In his address, he stated that “Venezuela will hold the largest march in its history when President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores are rescued.”

The legislator reiterated that “the immunity of the head of state does not depend on the political recognition of a foreign state,” emphasizing that the actions taken by Washington constitute a flagrant violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, by disregarding Venezuela’s sovereignty and resorting to the unilateral use of force.

Maduro Guerra formally requested that the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights issue a public statement condemning the aggression against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, rejecting the violation of the freedom and the right to personal and integral liberty of President Maduro and Cilia Flores, and demanding their immediate release from the U.S. government.

The protest also denounced the unfounded accusations of drug trafficking against the Venezuelan president as part of a smear campaign to justify military and political interventions in the region.

The demonstrators recalled that international organizations such as the UN have repeatedly stated that Venezuela is not a drug-producing country and maintains active anti-drug trafficking policies.

Furthermore, they pointed out that the true objective of the United States is to seize Venezuelan natural resources, especially oil, citing as an example the illegal seizure of ships loaded with Venezuelan crude in the Caribbean, actions carried out without legal basis and in blatant violation of international navigation and trade regulations.

The participants in the mobilization also criticized the historical US doctrine that considers Latin America as its “backyard,” under the logic of “America for the Americans,” and demanded respect for the principle of self-determination of peoples.
