Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro made an official visit to the St. Petersburg Government headquarters, where he met with Governor Aleksandr Beglov. Both leaders emphasized the broad prospects for cooperation between their nations across multiple sectors.
President Maduro and Beglov Highlight Expanding Venezuela-Russia Cooperation
During their meeting, Beglov noted that the friendship and strategic partnership between Venezuela and Russia were established by the late leader Hugo Chávez and Russian President Vladimir Putin. He stressed that despite the “collective West’s aggressive policies,” both nations advocate for a multipolar and sovereign world order.
Beglov stated that bilateral relations have reached a new level and praised Maduro’s participation in commemorative events as a sign of Venezuela’s solidarity with Russia.
Visit to Smolny Museum Marks 80th Anniversary of Soviet Victory
Maduro’s agenda included a visit to the historic Smolny Museum, which houses key documents of the Russian Revolution. The stop was part of events marking the 80th anniversary of the Red Army’s victory in the Great Patriotic War (World War II).
The Venezuelan president’s trip underscores efforts to deepen strategic alliances and promote a more equitable global order amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
