“We’ll participate in the Fourth CELAC Ministerial Forum, a significant event to strengthen our multilateral relations. At the start of our working agenda, we had the privilege of meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi,” Gil said, noting that he and Wang discussed expanding the strategic alliance between their countries and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing toward a multipolar world.

The China-CELAC Forum was created 15 years ago as an expression of the continent’s nations to reinforce their independence, sovereignty, and joint development. In 2014, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the creation of a forum to unite the Asian giant with Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Ministerial Forum emerged through cooperation between China and Latin American countries, united in the belief that it is essential to strengthen the principles of equality, mutual benefit, innovation, openness, and shared development.

The fourth ministerial meeting will serve to assess progress, reinforce cooperation, and chart new joint actions. Key topics include technological innovation, trade, artificial intelligence, infrastructure, agriculture, food security, energy, and mining, as well as projects linked to the Belt and Road Initiative.

China and CELAC countries reject unilateralism, economic pressure, and the politicization of trade relations, which they consider unacceptable forms of coercion.

The forum represents a platform to coordinate cooperative development strategies, confront global challenges, promote fairer international governance, and ensure global stability and peace.
