On Friday, Citizen Security Minister Diosdado Cabello confirmed the arrest of far-right activist Juan Pablo Guanipa, a member of the “Justice First” party and a close collaborator of Maria Corina Machado

During a press conference, the Bolivarian official indicated that Guanipa was leading a “shadowy terrorist group” with destabilizing intentions. To that end, he had remained in hiding for several months.
The Citizen Security minister mentioned that another 20 citizens linked to the same case were also detained. Their identities, however, were not revealed.
During raids on various homes related to Guanipa’s arrest, authorities found weapons, C4 explosives, electric detonators, and cash, which was intended to be used to finance the equipment for the placement of explosives.
“We are obligated to inform our people so that they feel that their Revolutionary government is working for peace for all Venezuelans,” the Security Citizen minister said.
At the press conference, Cabello also revealed that Ivan Simonovis, a fugitive from Venezuelan justice who maintained direct communication with the DEA and the CIA as part of the tasks assigned by Juan Guaido, attended a meeting in the U.S. on Thursday in which Venezuelan far-right activists decided to plant explosives starting today to disrupt the legislative and regional elections scheduled for Sunday.
Despite these intentions, the Bolivarian officer assured that security forces and agencies are deployed throughout Venezuelan territory to prevent any incidents on Sunday, when citizens will head to the polls to elect 285 national legislators, 260 state legislatures for regional councils, and 24 governors.
