In a special interview with teleSUR, Attorney General Tarek William Saab denounced the systematic violations by the United States government of Venezuela’s territorial integrity, international law, and its own laws, amidst escalating bilateral tensions.

“It is essential that international treaties be implemented and become effective instruments for protecting the sovereign rights of nations,” stated Saab, who emphasized that Washington has committed acts that violate even principles recognized by the International Criminal Court, such as the diplomatic immunity of President Nicolás Maduro.

The Attorney General reiterated that the sanctions and unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States are part of a strategy of external aggression against Venezuela, to which the Venezuelan people have responded with firmness and unity. “The people haven’t listened to the right wing; they thought it would be a ‘Carecazo’ (a reference to a political coup attempt), but the people have humanism, Bolivarianism, and have been educated in other values,” he stated.

In his remarks, Saab also addressed the hybrid and cognitive warfare waged by hegemonic media outlets, highlighting how disinformation on social media distorts Venezuelan reality. “One of the worst phases is cognitive warfare, fourth-generation warfare,” he warned, while urging people to verify information with reliable sources and to “go out into the streets and see the facts as they are happening.”

Regarding the justice system, the Attorney General reported that more than 2,000 reviews of precautionary measures have been issued, first during the administration of constitutional president Nicolás Maduro and subsequently under the leadership of Delcy Rodríguez as acting president and human rights advocate. “All actions have been carried out relentlessly and transparently,” he asserted, highlighting the governance achieved through cooperation between branches of government and the cohesive functioning of the military-police-social-institutional alliance.

Saab also criticized the selective silence of international organizations regarding serious human rights violations in other countries, such as the inhumane treatment in Salvadoran prisons, while Venezuela—which defends itself based on the law—is a constant target of criticism from the Venezuelan and global right wing.

In this context, he rejected any attempt at politically motivated prosecution and argued that certain legal proceedings lack legal foundation. “The trial of our presidential couple should be declared inadmissible,” he stated, reaffirming that international legal bodies should work diligently to uncover the truth and defend it.

Finally, the Attorney General insisted that peace is a priority and that the actions of the Venezuelan state are framed within an institutional strategy based on respect, dialogue, and understanding.
