Jorge Rodriguez, head of Venezuela’s peace dialogue efforts, denounced on Sunday that right-wing extremists are plotting to plant explosives at the United States (U.S.) Embassy in Caracas as part of a false-flag operation.

The President of the Venezuelan National Assembly reported in a message posted on his Telegram channel that Caracas had warned the Trump administration about this serious threat through three different channels.

“In my capacity as head of dialogue and peace in Venezuela, I want to announce that through three different channels we have warned the U.S. government of a serious threat: through a false-flag operation prepared by extremist sectors of the local right, there is an attempt to place lethal explosives in the U.S. Embassy in Venezuela,” the official stated.

He added that the warning also reached a European embassy “so that it can communicate the seriousness of this information to U.S. diplomatic personnel.”

Rodríguez mentioned that, at the same time, reinforced security measures have been implemented at the diplomatic headquarters, which the Venezuelan government respects and protects.
