On May 30, 2025, Venezuela received a significant shipment of vaccines from the Islamic Republic of Iran, including 1,905,000 doses of polio vaccine and 502,012 doses of hepatitis B vaccine.

Jesús Miguel Osteicochea, Deputy Minister of Collective Health Networks, highlighted the importance of these vaccines in continuing Venezuela’s fight against vaccine-preventable diseases, a success attributed to the country’s sustained vaccination campaigns and international solidarity.

The deputy minister emphasized that Venezuela’s vaccination program remains robust, with children under five having received the full three-dose schedule. In addition to the recent shipment, Venezuela has already received doses of the tuberculosis (BCG) vaccine this year and anticipates further deliveries of the pentavalent vaccine and MMR vaccine to protect against diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, haemophilus influenzae type b, hepatitis B, measles, rubella, and mumps. These efforts have contributed to preventing the resurgence of diseases such as measles and rubella, safeguarding public health nationwide.

The text reads: @magalygutierrezvina On behalf of the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, led by our president @NicolasMaduroMoros, we thank the Islamic Republic of Iran for the arrival at Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía of 2,407,000 doses of vaccines against polio and hepatitis B. This important supply is achieved through the alliance and bilateral agreements between both countries.

Our main objective is to guarantee the right to health and prevent diseases through vaccination campaigns carried out across the national territory for the benefit of all, within the framework of the 7 Transformations (7T), focused on the social sector.

Venezuela’s vaccination campaign employs a door-to-door methodology, supported by over 6,000 vaccination points across hospitals, clinics, and schools. This expansive network forms part of the government’s Seven Transformations (7T), specifically the social transformation pillar (4T), demonstrating the Bolivarian commitment to health equity.

The arrival of vaccines from Iran underscores the critical role of international partnerships in overcoming the blockade and ensuring access to essential medicines for the Venezuelan people.

This delivery from Iran not only strengthens Venezuela’s immunization program but also exemplifies the enduring alliance between the two nations, rooted in mutual support and shared goals of public health and sovereignty. As Venezuela continues to confront external pressures, such collaborations remain vital to protecting the health and wellbeing of its population.
