In a significant diplomatic achievement, Venezuela has been re-elected to serve as Vice President of the United Nations General Assembly during its 80th session (2025-2026). This milestone underscores the steadfast dedication of the Bolivarian Government and the Venezuelan people to principles of sovereignty, multipolarity, and peaceful dialogue on the global stage.

The reappointment of Ambassador Samuel Moncada to this prestigious role exemplifies Venezuela’s continued leadership in promoting a world order respectful of the UN Charter and the rights of peoples to self-determination.

Ambassador Moncada was re-elected by acclamation, reflecting broad regional support from the Latin American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC). This marks the second consecutive term for Moncada, highlighting Venezuela’s active and respected role within the United Nations framework.

Left-wing political voices across Latin America have praised Venezuela’s renewed mandate at the UN as a powerful rebuke to imperialist intervention and economic blockades. The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) emphasizes Moncada’s leadership as coordinator of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter, where he has advanced critical debates on economic justice, decolonization, and the devastating effects of unilateral coercive measures, commonly known as sanctions,on human rights and national sovereignty.

This renewed position is seen as a vital tool for Venezuela and its allies to challenge the hegemonic pressures imposed by Western powers, reaffirming the importance of multipolarity and international cooperation based on mutual respect.

Venezuela’s diplomatic strategy, known as “Diplomacia Bolivariana de Paz,”( Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace) continues to prioritize peaceful dialogue and respect for international law, while denouncing sanctions as instruments of imperialist aggression that harm civilian populations.

The text reads: Venezuela has been re-elected for the second time to hold the Vice Presidency of the United Nations General Assembly during its 80th session (2025-2026).
This achievement is a testament to the commitment of the Bolivarian Government and the Venezuelan people to dialogue, sovereignty, multipolarity, the defense of the UN Charter, and the right of peoples to self-determination, as well as to a life free from imperialist blockades and sanctions. Our ambassador, Samuel Moncada, once again assumes this important role in the UN General Assembly, advancing our Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace.

Ambassador Samuel Moncada, a seasoned diplomat and advocate of the Bolivarian Revolution, will continue to champion Venezuela’s Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace within the UN framework. This approach prioritizes dialogue, peaceful resolution of conflicts, and the defense of international law against unilateral coercive measures.

Analysts highlight that Venezuela’s leadership role at the UN serves as a platform to expose the detrimental effects of sanctions on civilian populations and to call for their immediate lifting, reinforcing the country’s unwavering commitment to social justice and human dignity.
