During a press conference, the Bolivarian official said investigations revealed that the attack plan was orchestrated by a right-wing terrorist organization.
“We found people in Zulia, Caracas, Carabobo and Los Teques with an arsenal intended to disrupt the country’s peace,” Cabello said.
Following the arrest of far-right leader Juan Guanipa on Friday, authorities found contacts on his phone linked to NGOs such as Provea, Penal Forum, and United Doctors of Venezuela. These organizations are allegedly involved in financing the terrorist operations.
Venezuelan authorities also uncovered evidence of meetings held in Colombia that involved Maria Corina Machado and Ivan Simonovis.
The text reads, “Diosdado Cabello presents the evidence found in Juan Pablo Guanipa’s agenda, which compiled attempts to attack Sunday’s electoral process, as well as the elimination of the people who lead the parties that make up the Great Patriotic Pole Simon Bolivar.”
“During the dismantling of the drug trafficking gang, we seized a significant cache of weapons, missiles and grenades, many of them brought from the United States,” Cabello said, adding that among the confiscated materials was a notebook with handwriting attributed to Guanipa.
The citizen security minister claimed that Venezuelan terrorists were receiving financial support from former Colombian presidents Juan Manuel Santos, Ivan Duque, and Alvaro Uribe.
“It was terrible what they planned to do. They intended to attack the embassies and diplomatic residences of Colombia, France, and Spain, as well as the United Nations offices in Venezuela,” Cabello said during a press conference in which he displayed the arsenal found in a raid in Los Teques.
“No human rights defender could justify planting bombs in hospitals,” the Bolivarian minister said when criticizing the false image that right-wing activists promote about themselves.
Finally, Cabello once again denounced harassment and media persecution campaigns promoted from abroad by the transnational far right against Venezuelan public officials.
