From San Cristobal, the capital of Táchira state, journalist Paola Dragnig reported that the city is in total calm. Tomorrow, a total of 850,000 voters will vote in the 29 municipalities in the area. On the Colombian-Venezuelan border, security measures are also applied until next Monday.

For her part, journalist Madeleine García witnessed the popular enthusiasm in the state of Guayana Esequiba, whose political institutions will be born this Sunday with the vote in regional and legislative elections.

In an exclusive interview with teleSUR, the administrative head of Guayana Esequiba, Neil Villamizar, stated that there is a pleasant atmosphere, camaraderie, and joviality among the population of Tumeremo (capital), El Dorado, and Las Claritas. “We are taking firm steps in the process of recovering our Guayana Esequiba,” he noted.

In fact, the elections represent a political advancement, as authorities will be elected to form the necessary structure so that the state can develop and join the national dynamic. “There is joy and enormous expectation for this step.”

The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, has encouraged citizens to participate actively in the elections of 25M with the aim of building peace and future for the country.

He stressed that these elections, the 32nd in the democratic history of Venezuela, are crucial to define the direction of the regions, reiterating the importance of citizen participation in electoral processes.

The vice-president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Carlos Quintero, reported that the installation of 100% of the polling stations has been completed, with the participation of the members and witnesses of the political parties. This indicates that the CNE infrastructure, which includes 15,736 centres and 27,713 polling stations, is ready for voting.

On 25 May, polling stations in Venezuela are preparing for regional and legislative elections. Starting at 5:00 a.m., the members of the polling stations will begin the constitution process, and an hour later the polls will officially open.

Tests and simulations were conducted to assess the technical and logistical aspects of the electoral process, with a view to simplifying the voting experience for voters.
