The first day of the forum, which seeks to establish a common front against war and in defense of life, opened with a musical performance by Venezuelan folk singer Lilia Vera.

“Venezuela is at the forefront of the protection of humanity rights. We seek a global commitment for a more fair and human future!,” Bolivarian Foreign Minister Yvan Gil said at the event.

Previously, he invited social movements, political parties, grassroots organizations, cultural platforms, labor unions and faith communities from around the world to participate in the forum, which coincides with the 242nd anniversary of the birth of Liberator Simon Bolivar.

Lidice Altuve, vice president of the Simon Bolivar Institute for Peace and Solidarity Among Peoples, said the forum will address four key topics: “Bolivar and the Balance of the Universe,” “Bolivar and Sovereignty,” “Bolivar and Peace,” and “Various Alternative Projects to Advance Those Ideals.”

“We have an unpostponable duty to take collective and responsible action in favor of human existence and all corners of the planet,” she said during her welcome message to international delegations.

“This forum is necessary for the battle of ideas,” Altuve added, emphasizing the need to lay the foundation for a deep debate on the future of humanity.
