The Bolivarian government rejects claims of pre–Jan. 3 conspiracy.
On Sunday, the Venezuelan government categorically denied reports alleging supposed secret conspiratorial conversations between the United States and Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello ahead of the kidnapping of President Nicolas Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores on Jan. 3.

“We categorically deny the malicious information published on social media about supposed secret conspiratorial conversations, which seeks to divide the country’s high political command and aims to undermine the prestige and revolutionary integrity of Diosdado Cabello,” the Presidential Office posted on X.
The Venezuelan government also categorically denied another malicious fake news report alleging that foreign intelligence agents had been awarded decorations.
Acting President Delcy Rodriguez, who since her swearing-in has reiterated that her administration will continue President Maduro’s line of action, has called for national unity and said “the enemy’s greatest victory would be to divide us, but they will not succeed.”
“Venezuela is living through a ‘moment of resistance’ that requires patience, strategic prudence, and clear objectives. Among them, I highlight three priorities: preserving peace in the republic, rescuing President Maduro and First Lady Flores, and ensuring that the Bolivarian Revolution maintains political power to defend the people,” she said in remarks earlier this week.
