The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has strongly condemned Israel’s recent military assault on the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing it as “a criminal, illegitimate, and unjustified aggression” and a serious violation of international law. The official statement, issued Wednesday, urges an immediate halt to hostilities and warns that the escalation endangers peace and stability across West Asia.

“This is an act of war,” Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry declared, citing what it called Israel’s continued record of impunity under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “The Israeli war machine operates outside the bounds of all legality,” the communiqué stated.
“Israel has turned its foreign policy into a permanent threat to peace in West Asia,” the statement added.
The Venezuelan government also expressed “its strongest solidarity” with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian, and the Iranian people in the wake of what it called a “cowardly attack.”
“We reiterate that there can be no peace without justice, and justice begins by halting Israel’s arms escalation—this military enclave, accused of committing war crimes and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people, has become a major destabilizing force to global peace,” the statement read.
Venezuela and Iran maintain a longstanding strategic alliance based on political, technological, and energy cooperation. Both countries have consistently challenged U.S. unilateralism and deepened bilateral relations in the face of sanctions and Western pressure.
In April 2024, Presidents Nicolás Maduro and Ebrahim Raisi signed more than 20 cooperation agreements through the Iran–Venezuela Joint Commission. The accords span key areas such as oil, petrochemicals, health, defense, and transportation.
Caracas has regularly supported Tehran in multilateral forums, while Iran has provided Venezuela with vital energy and technical assistance during periods of crisis.
Venezuela’s condemnation comes amid growing regional tensions. In recent years, Israel has conducted airstrikes in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran, often citing national security concerns. Human rights groups have denounced these operations as violations of international norms.
The latest strike on Iran adds to an already volatile context in the region. Gaza remains under siege, the war in Yemen continues, and Western-backed military realignments persist across the Persian Gulf.
Between 2023 and 2024, Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza killed more than 35,000 people, according to United Nations and humanitarian agencies. Multiple countries from the Global South, including South Africa, Bolivia, and Venezuela, have labeled the campaign as genocidal and demanded international accountability.
With this latest declaration, Caracas reinforces its alliance with Iran and joins the growing chorus of voices from the Global South demanding a new international order—one based on sovereignty, legality, multilateralism, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
