“Today I held a phone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, to whom I conveyed, on behalf of President Nicolas Maduro, a message of solidarity and brotherhood in the face of the atrocious and unjustified attack carried out by Israel against the Iranian people, which constitutes a serious violation of international law and the fundamental principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter,” Gil said.

During the call, the two officials discussed the complex international situation and reiterated Venezuela’s firm position in support of Iran’s legitimate right to develop its nuclear program for peaceful purposes, he added.

The Bolivarian diplomat also said they discussed President Maduro’s proposal to convene a peace summit for the West Asia region, aimed at halting Israel’s military escalation and advancing a final solution based on the independence, sovereignty and self-determination of the Palestinian people.
