The Bolivarian diplomacy pointed out that ‘the Palestinian cause is the cause of all humanity, of justice, legality, and sovereignty.’

On Thursday, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France will recognize the State of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly scheduled for September.

“True to its historic commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, I have decided that France will recognize the State of Palestine,” he said in a post on social media platform X, where he shared a letter addressed to Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian National Authority.

Some hours later, Venezuela’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement welcoming the French president’s decision. The statement reads:

“Venezuela welcomes President Emmanuel Macron’s decision to recognize the State of Palestine within its 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with United Nations resolutions.

The occupation of Palestine began in 1948 with the Nakba, when more than 700,000 Palestinians were displaced, marking the beginning of decades of apartheid and colonization.

Today, in the face of genocide in Gaza—with hunger, bombings, and forced displacement used as weapons—silence is complicity. Neutrality is not an option.

Venezuela reiterates its firm commitment to Palestine and urges all states to recognize it and protect its people. The Palestinian cause is the cause of all humanity, of justice, legality, and sovereignty.”

Earlier, in an interview with teleSUR on Thursday night, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro had already praised Macron’s decision.

“Despite all the differences we have with President Macron, I celebrate and congratulate the people of France and thank President Macron for taking the step today to recognize the right of the Palestinian State to exist,” he said, recalling that the Palestinian people’s right is “established in multiple United Nations General Assembly resolutions, and is international law.”

“Benjamin Netanyahu wants to ignore resolutions that are binding international law, and humanity must come together,” the Bolivarian leader emphasized, reiterating his proposal to convene a multilateral summit for peace in the Middle East.

Maduro said that West Asia, Arab and Muslim countries, the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, China, Russia, India, the BRICS, and the United States “must urgently convene a multilateral summit for peace and international legality.”
