On June 9, 2025, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil emphasized the enduring strength of Venezuela’s alliance with Russia, reaffirming the Strategic Partnership Agreement signed last May by President Nicolás Maduro and Russian President Vladimir Putin. This agreement deepens cooperation across a broad spectrum of areas, reinforcing the political and economic ties between the two nations.

Gil highlighted that the agreement consolidates collaboration not only in political and economic arenas but also in commercial, legal, cultural, and technological sectors. The partnership is built on over 350 signed agreements, demonstrating a robust and multifaceted relationship that continues to expand.

In November 2024, Venezuela and Russia signed 17 new agreements focused on bilateral development goals extending through 2030, underscoring their long-term vision for cooperation and mutual progress.

The text reads: We have held a meeting with the Russian ambassador to Venezuela, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov, with the aim of reaffirming our brotherhood and commitment to the Cooperation and Strategic Partnership Agreement signed by Presidents Nicolás Maduro and Vladimir Putin in May. This agreement lays the foundation to strengthen our alliances in the political, economic, commercial, legal, cultural, and technological spheres.

Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Russia date back to March 14, 1945, and have evolved significantly over the decades. Today, their strategic cooperation encompasses critical sectors such as energy, trade, education, and technology, reflecting a shared commitment to sovereignty and development free from imperialist pressures.

The partnership stands as a clear example of South-South cooperation, resisting external interference and promoting multipolarity in international relations.
