During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed over four decades of diplomatic relations, marked by a mutual commitment to peace, sovereignty, and the development of their peoples. Both delegations agreed on the importance of strengthening the fight against imperialism, promoting territorial defense, and advancing toward a model of integration based on solidarity and mutual respect between states.
On Tuesday, Mali’s foreign minister also met with Executive Vice President and Minister of Hydrocarbons Delcy Rodríguez to review the bilateral cooperation agenda “with a view to further deepening” their “brotherly relations for the well-being and development of both peoples.”
Rodríguez shared this on her Telegram account, adding that they discussed “regional issues of interest,” and agreed on the need to “promote a multipolar world free of criminal sanctions, where respect and the self-determination of peoples prevail.”
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil stated that progress is being made on the granting of 30 new scholarships for Malian students in Venezuela.
Diplomatic ties between Venezuela and Mali date back to December 1976, and have strengthened notably since the beginning of the Bolivarian Revolution and the ongoing support of President Nicolás Maduro’s government. This strategic relationship has resulted in 18 agreements signed in various areas related to social and economic development.
