Venezuela and Europe Move Toward a New Stage of Strategic Relations

Both delegations reviewed the state of bilateral ties with the aim of strengthening cooperation in strategic sectors such as energy, education, science, and the pharmaceutical industry.

The Bolivarian Government and the diplomatic corps of the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland agreed this Monday on the need to move towards a stage of productive relations and in-depth dialogue.

During a meeting described as frank and cordial, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil, accompanied by Acting President Delcy Rodríguez, President of the National Assembly Jorge Rodríguez, and Minister of the People’s Power for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace Diosdado Cabello, reviewed the state of bilateral ties with the aim of strengthening cooperation in strategic sectors such as energy, education, science, and the pharmaceutical industry.

This meeting served to reaffirm the Bolivarian Government’s commitment to building a work agenda that prioritizes the common good and mutual respect between the nations. Foreign Minister Gil emphasized that the intention is to open channels of communication, building upon the historical ties that bind Venezuela to European communities.

In this regard, he emphasized: “Within the framework of respect, within the framework of the equality of states, we are prepared to move forward with a new agenda, an intensive work agenda for the well-being of both our peoples.”

On the other hand, Venezuelan authorities took the opportunity to present foreign representatives with an account of the events of January 3, denouncing the violations of sovereignty and international law that culminated in the kidnapping of the Constitutional President, Nicolás Maduro, and the First Lady, Cilia Flores. They also reaffirmed the commitment of the European countries present to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, seeking to ensure that international law prevails over external aggression.

Finally, the National Executive affirmed that this rapprochement marks the beginning of a phase of comprehensive cooperation and development that will benefit all parties involved.
