Utah County District Attorney Jeff Gray announced that he will seek the death penalty for Tyler Robinson, the prime suspect in the shooting and killing of President Donald Trump’s ally, Charlie Kirk.

According to statements made by the judge to the press, he made this decision “independently as county prosecutor based solely on the available evidence, the circumstances, and the nature of the crime.”

Additionally, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that the suspect could face execution by firing squad. Later, she emphasized that “federal prosecutors, as well as state authorities, will seek the maximum punishment.”

Likewise, that same day, District Attorney Gray presented several pieces of evidence linking Robinson, 22, as the prime suspect in the murder of Kirk, who was also a conservative activist.

The evidence includes text messages between the killer and his roommate, statements from family members, and evidence recovered from the crime scene and other locations.

Previously, Utah Governor Spencer Cox emphasized that the suspect has refused to cooperate in the investigation and refuses to accept guilt in the murder.

According to sources from The Washington Post, Robinson confessed to the murder via chat message just before his arrest. The American newspaper’s article states that one of the messages read: “Hey everyone, I have some bad news… It was me yesterday at Utah Valley University. I’m so sorry.”

It’s worth remembering that the murder occurred during a question-and-answer session under a tent in the courtyard of the Sorensen Center on campus.

The 31-year-old ultraconservative activist was shot in the neck, and in videos of the incident, he is seen bleeding in that area, while the crowd ran in all directions after hearing the shot.

Charlie Kirk was born in the northern US state of Illinois. He graduated from Wheeling High School in a Chicago suburb and was recognized for organizing outdoor debates on college campuses across the country.

He had a significant social media presence, with 5.2 million followers on X and 7.3 million on TikTok.

He was known for a history of violent and bigoted rhetoric, and his comments covered a variety of controversial topics: anti-LGBTQ+. He used anti-transgender slurs on several occasions and encouraged Donald Trump to ban gender-affirming healthcare, demanding that providers be subjected to a “Nuremberg-style trial.”

He also sought to challenge a court ruling that allowed discrimination against LGBTQ+ people and stated that the “ability to say no is what truly maintains order in our society.”

With the same fervor, he promulgated the Great Replacement Theory and immigration: He repeatedly invoked the Great Replacement Theory, sowing fear about immigration, especially across the US-Mexico border.

He went so far as to claim that the left “won’t stop until you, your children, and your children’s children are eliminated” and that “illegals,” a derogatory term he used for migrants, could steal their homes.

He claimed in his videos that Haiti was “legitimately infested with demonic voodoo” and that Haitian migrants would become “its masters” if Trump lost the election.

He also repeated the claim that Haitian migrants were eating people’s pets in Springfield, Ohio.

He also maintained that “black crime is a serious problem in our country” and that “marauding black people are out there looking for fun to attack white people.”

He supported the genocide in Gaza, repeatedly defended the Israeli genocide in Gaza, and often blamed Palestinians for their own murders.
