“The Iran US talks scheduled to be held in Muscat this Sunday will not now take place. But diplomacy and dialogue remain the only pathway to lasting peace,” Albusaidi said in post in X.
Previously, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that the continuation of indirect talks between Iran and the US amid Israel’s brutality is “unjustifiable.”
In the early hours of Friday, Israel attacked military and uranium enrichment facilities in Iran, killing senior military officials and nuclear scientists. They also attacked residential areas in Tehran, resulting in 78 deaths and 329 injuries. The Zionist entity invoked a supposed threat from Iran, which it attributed to the possibility of the Persian nation developing nuclear weapons. The Iranian position that its nuclear programme has peaceful purposes is well known.
In a phone call with Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs considered that the aggression by the Israeli regime is the result of direct support from the United States.
Araqchi emphasized that “continuing negotiations between Iran and the U.S. in a situation where the Zionist regime’s savagery continues is unjustifiable.” and said his country “has given a decisive response to the Zionist regime’s aggressions to protect its national sovereignty, people, and security, and is resolved to use its legitimate right to take countermeasures.”
On the other hand, The spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (A.E.O.I.), Behrouz Kamalvandi, reported that the Israeli attacks on nuclear infrastructure did not cause loss of life and only limited surface damage in Natanz, Fordo and Isfahan.
He assured that key nuclear components were protected through prior precautionary measures, such as the relocation of critical equipment and materials to secure facilities. Kamalvandi emphasized Iran’s technical capacity and the dedication of its nuclear experts, stating that all damage will be quickly repaired, possibly by upgrading the original infrastructure.
