Gladkov also shared a video on Telegram showing the interception of a fixed-wing Ukrainian drone as it approached the provincial capital. The vehicle had a message written in marker on its wings: “With love, for the inhabitants of Belgorod.”
The official described the message as “further proof that the goal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is to cause terror.” Gladkov thanked the personnel of the Russian Army’s Sever (Russian for “North”) group for their coordinated efforts and for shooting down multiple enemy drones.
Meanwhile, Moscow’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, reported that at least three unmanned aerial vehicles flying toward the capital were shot down, bringing the total to 123 drones intercepted by air defense forces across the 12 targeted regions.
The daily report from the Ministry of Defense stated that between 11:30 p.m. on July 16 and 7:00 a.m. today, a total of 119 drones were shot down in the following regions: Bryansk (43), Kursk (38), Oryol (10), Smolensk (6), Voronezh (6), Belgorod (5), Moscow Region (3), Kaluga (3), Leningrad Region (2), Lipetsk (2), and Tula (1).
