The Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Israel, Andriy Sibiga and Gideon Sa’ar, agreed on Wednesday in Kiev to work together to confront what they call the Iranian “threat” — a key ally of Russia, whose nuclear facilities were recently targeted by Israel and the U.S. in unprovoked airstrikes.
“Today we decided to maintain a strategic dialogue between our ministries on the Iranian threat,” said Sa’ar after the meeting. He further claimed that Israel’s recent military actions against Iran’s “weapons and technological capabilities” have positive effects on the security of Ukraine and all of Europe.
For his part, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister alleged: “Iran continues to develop its nuclear program and supplies weapons to terrorist groups. Moscow, Tehran, and Pyongyang have formed an alliance of criminal regimes that support each other and threaten the entire free world.”
However, Persian President Masoud Pezeshkian has repeatedly affirmed the Islamic Republic’s outright rejection of nuclear weapons and its commitment to pursuing nuclear energy strictly for peaceful purposes. “We categorically reject possessing nuclear weapons,” he said. “This is our political, religious, human, and strategic position.” This assertion has been consistently verified by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors — unlike Israel, which remains outside the framework of international nuclear oversight.
Regarding bilateral relations between the Zionist entity and Zelensky’s regime, Sa’ar highlighted the support Israel has provided to the Slavic nation, including the early deployment of a field hospital in western Ukraine, the delivery of mobile water purification systems, and assistance in treating post-traumatic stress and war-related injuries.
According to a recent statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Israel was planning to send air defense systems to Ukraine, but this initiative was suspended following the outbreak of the war in Gaza.
