“I’m very pleased to see you again in the Russian capital. We place special importance on our relationship with the United Arab Emirates. It is a friendly country for us,” Putin said at the start of the meeting with Bin Zayed, which was broadcast live on Russian state television.

The Kremlin leader emphasized high-level political contacts as well as the development of economic ties, including both trade and investment.

“I would like to point out that Russian investments in the United Arab Emirates still significantly exceed Emirati investments in Russia—by almost double,” Putin said.

The Emirati president, in turn, noted that trade between the UAE and Russia has reached US$11.5 billion, and with the countries of Eurasia, it has totaled US$30 billion.

“We want that figure to double over the next five years, both bilaterally and with the countries of Eurasia,” Bin Zayed told Putin.

During the Russian-Emirati talks, the two sides will address the implementation of bilateral projects in the energy and investment sectors. At the conclusion of the meeting, both leaders are expected to sign several documents in the areas of transportation and investment.
