U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Monday that the American government will supply more weapons to Ukraine so it can “defend itself” from Russia, following the Pentagon’s halt of some deliveries. “Defensive weapons, primarily, but they’re getting hit very, very hard. So many people are dying in that mess,” he said, but did not elaborate further.

“We’re going to send some more weapons. We have to. They have to be able to defend themselves. They’re getting hit very hard now,” Trump told reporters during a dinner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
After Trump’s remarks, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed that the U.S. reassured that the review of military shipments worldwide “remains in effect and is integral to our America First defense priorities.” He stressed that all munitions shipments are being reviewed, not just those to Ukraine. “We can’t give weapons to everybody all around the world,” Parnell said.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth halted deliveries last week, citing concerns over decreasing U.S. stockpiles. The suspension affects items such as interceptors for Patriot air defense systems, precision artillery shells, and missiles used by U.S.-made F-16 aircraft, according to Pentagon officials quoted by local media.
Russia has declared that foreign arms shipments will not stop it from securing victory. Last month, President Vladimir Putin emphasized that Moscow views Western countries providing weapons to Ukraine as “de facto direct participants in the conflict.”
The United States had provided Ukraine with a total of $123.3 billion in assistance by April, according to calculations by Sputnik based on data from Germany’s Kiel Institute for the World Economy.
