The U.S. Department of State (DOS) approved the “emergency” sale of weapons to Israel for $151.8 million. This transaction was authorized amid the war that Washington and Tel Aviv are waging in the Middle East against Iran.

The package includes 12,000 BLU-110A/B general purpose, 470-kilogram casings, as well as technical, logistical, and engineering support services provided by the US government and private defense contractors.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a waiver that bypasses mandatory congressional review, citing the Arms Export Control Act. The DOS justified the measure by arguing that there is an “emergency” requiring the transfer of equipment to strengthen Israel’s capacity against “regional threats,” claiming that the sale serves the national security interests of the United States.

Democratic Congressman Gregory Meeks noted that invoking emergency authority contradicts the administration’s narrative of being “fully prepared” for the conflict, evidencing a lack of transparency in war management.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump announced that major U.S. defense companies have agreed to quadruple production of advanced weaponry, just one week after attacks on Iranian soil began.

Since October 2023, the United States has faced criticism for backing Israel in its war and genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, where more than 71,660 people have died and over 170,340 Palestinians have been injured, the majority being children and women.

Additionally, the Iranian human rights organization HRANA reported that at least 742 civilians have died in Iran since the start of the terrorist offensive by the United States and the Zionist regime of Tel Aviv on February 28.

HRANA detailed that 176 of the victims are children, and 971 civilians have been injured, including 115 minors. According to their latest report, another 624 deaths remain pending confirmation and classification.
