The U.S. president again denied that he had left the G7 meeting to push for a cease-fire between Iran and Israel.
On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that his country’s response would be forceful if Iran targeted American interests.

“We would respond with full force, without hesitation. I think (the Iranians) already know not to touch our troops,” the president told reporters upon returning to Washington from the summit of the Group of Seven (G7) in Canada.
Trump again denied that he had left the G7 meeting to push for a cease-fire between Iran and Israel, as French President Emmanuel Macron had suggested.
“I’m not looking for a cease-fire, we’re looking for something better… I never said I was seeking a cease-fire. That was Emmanuel… good guy, but he’s not always right,” the Republican leader said.
However, his statements on the matter have been contradictory. On one hand, Trump claimed he sought a “real resolution, not a cease-fire” and was considering sending U.S. Vice President JD Vance and special envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with Iranian representatives. On the other hand, he said he was not “in much of a mood to negotiate” with Iran.
Meanwhile, Tehran endured a fifth night of Israeli strikes. While Persian defense systems remained active, multiple explosions sent plumes of smoke rising over the city’s east and southeast, including near the Parchin military complex.
The Tehran Times also reported that air defenses were activated in Natanz, home to one of Iran’s key uranium enrichment facilities. Neither Iranian authorities nor state media reported casualties or damage from the latest Israeli attacks at this time.
