Thousands of people marched this Saturday in the streets of major U.S. cities against the immigration policy of the Trump Administration and the violence and crimes of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), after a federal agent fatally shot a woman in Minneapolis and another shot and wounded two people in Portland, Oregon.

On the fourth consecutive day of protests following the killing of Renee Good, a poet and mother of three, by an ICE agent, the streets of Minneapolis were once again the scene of massive demonstrations in which slogans and banners contained messages such as “ICE kills,” “Badges don’t justify brutality,” “ICE, get out of Minnesota,” “Deport white supremacists,” “ICE is not welcome,” “I love my immigrant neighbors,” and “Immigrants make America great.”
ICE kills. They are fascists. They are murderers. They have invaded our city, were some of the shouts at the rally in Minneapolis, where the crowd gathered in a park near the place where an agent of that service, identified as Jonathan Ross, fatally shot Renee Good, 37, without reason, during a raid.
The gathering, organized after the crime was publicized, gained strength after Thursday, a day after the murder of Good in Minneapolis, two people were injured after receiving several shots from another federal agent in Portland, Oregon.
We want justice and we want respect. We want this Administration to put aside its rhetoric against immigrants. We are not criminals. The color of our skin or the fact that we speak Spanish does not mean we are criminals, said Daniel, 45, a Minneapolis resident of Mexican origin.
The presence of ICE in the city is making the streets less safe. We want them to leave and for justice to be done, said another protester, Ayanna, 16, who studies at a high school a few meters from the site of the incident.
Minneapolis is not the only site of rallies against ICE and Trump’s aggressive immigration policy. More than a thousand protests have been called this weekend across the United States under the slogan “ICE out for Good.”
“No to wars! No to kings! No to ICE!” stated the call in New York, where condemnation joined the attacks by federal agents and the extrajudicial executions promoted by the Administration with its so-called Operation Southern Lance in the Caribbean, which has left more than a hundred dead.
